What Is the Difference Between Imitation Denim and Denim?

Jul. 01, 2020

Denim Fabric structural characteristics: using twill weave, is a coarse twill dyed fabric. The fabric structure is mostly left twill. The warp is generally blue or black yarn. The weft yarn is blue or black yarn, the weft yarn is white or primary color yarn, the cloth warp yarn floats in blue or black, the texture is clear, and the reverse weft yarn floats in white. The yarn is thick. High density.

Denim style: thick and firm, bold and bold, wear-resistant and durable, comfortable to wear, often used as clothing fabrics. The variety of denim is constantly developing, from color to organizational structure, to different finishing methods, such as graphite. Snow washing, cellulase treatment, etc.

(1) Cotton denim is a colored fabric with cotton yarn as the main raw material. The weft yarn can also be covered with cotton spandex to increase the weft elasticity of the fabric. The colors are mainly black, navy blue, navy blue and navy blue. Early cotton denim was mainly dominated by ordinary twill. With the development of warp beam dyeing technology, the production efficiency of Eco-friendly Denim Fabric has rapidly increased. The introduction of jacquard looms and the extensive use of slub yarns and spandex covered yarns have greatly enriched the color variety of cotton denim. The warp yarn of cotton/polyester imitation denim is cotton, and the weft yarn is polyester or polyester spandex covered yarn.

(2) Most of the imitation denim fabrics are dyed intermittently with ropes, and mainly dyed with warp yarns. The number of colors is much more abundant than that of cotton denim fabrics. Intermittent rope dyeing maximizes the stiff feel of denim and improves color accuracy, vividness and uniformity. Dyeing cotton at room temperature can ensure the uniform shrinkage of the weft polyester spandex covered yarn, and maximize the weft elasticity of the imitation denim. Through the use of slub yarn and jacquard loom, imitation denim can fully achieve the number of colors of cotton denim. By adjusting the dyeing and finishing process, a larger number of imitation denim fabrics that are popular with consumers can be developed. From fabric structure, raw materials, to density, the two types of fabrics are not very different. However, due to the different processing procedures, the styles of the two products are quite different.

(3) Pure cotton denim with pure color, heavy texture and obvious traditional style, suitable for various processes of denim clothing processing. Of course, the disadvantages are more obvious: the feel is hard, the weft elasticity is not obvious after the addition of spandex, the number of colors is not large, it is not suitable for small batch production, and it is not suitable for giving the fabric more characteristics through finishing. By adjusting the thickness of the raw material and the density of the machine, and by changing the dyeing method, cotton/polyester denim can reach the level of dyed denim in terms of shade, style and texture. At the same time, cotton/polyester imitation denim can completely overcome the above-mentioned shortcomings of cotton denim by adjusting the processing flow and process conditions during the dyeing and finishing process.
